Why convert PDF to PNG?
PDF files are best for documents that must print and look identical everywhere. PNG is the better choice for screenshots, logos and graphics with sharp edges or transparency. It opens in every browser, phone and image editor, while PDF opens in every browser and operating system.
PNG is lossless, so nothing your PDF file contains is thrown away on the way.

What happens to your file
Each page is drawn by PDF.js, the open-source PDF engine built into Firefox. It renders text, vector shapes and embedded images exactly as a PDF viewer would, at twice normal screen resolution, then saves every page as an image.
Tips for a clean conversion
- Drop a whole folder's worth of PDF files at once. They convert one after another and you can download everything as a single ZIP.
- Keep your original PDF files until you have checked the results. Converting back later is rarely lossless.
- PNG keeps everything it receives, so the result is only ever as good as the PDF file you start with.
- Each page becomes its own image at twice normal resolution, so small print stays readable.
About the formats
PDF: Fixed-layout document format that looks the same on every device.
PNG: Lossless image format with transparency. Best for screenshots, logos and graphics with sharp edges.
