How to convert PNG to Text

- Text is already selected for you. Press "Convert to Plain text".
- Download each new Text file, or grab them all at once as a ZIP.
Why convert PNG to Plain text?
PNG files are best for screenshots, logos and graphics with sharp edges or transparency. Plain text is the better choice for raw text with no formatting. It opens in everything, while PNG opens in every browser, phone and image editor.
This conversion reads the words out of your PNG file rather than copying its look, so images, colours and styling are left behind. Accuracy depends on how clear the original is: digital files come out exact, while photos and scans can have the odd misread character.

What happens to your file
The words are read with Tesseract, the open-source text recognition (OCR) engine originally developed at HP and later maintained by Google, compiled to run inside your browser. It finds each line of text in the picture and turns it into real, editable characters. The engine and its English language data download once, then stay cached.
Tips for a clean conversion
- Drop a whole folder's worth of PNG files at once. They convert one after another and you can download everything as a single ZIP.
- Keep your original PNG files until you have checked the results. Converting back later is rarely lossless.
- Text recognition reads printed English best. Use a sharp, straight-on photo or a screenshot; handwriting, heavy shadows and steep angles cause misreads, so proofread names and numbers.
About the formats
PNG: Lossless image format with transparency. Best for screenshots, logos and graphics with sharp edges.
Plain text: Raw text with no formatting. Opens in anything.
